A Peek at Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein's Portlandia

Here's a promo for Portlandia, IFC's new comedy starring SNL's Fred Armisen and former Sleater-Kinney guitarist/vocalist Carrie Brownstein. It looks good, provided they avoid too many easy hipster jokes. But in any case, IFC's definitely a network to watch at the moment, having recently aired The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret earlier this year and with both Portlandia and The Onion News Network coming next month.

I want to watch this, but I don't get IFC! Boo hoo.

Unless I'm mistaken, IFC programming is streamed on Hulu!

Hmm, I'm can't get a feel for what to expect from the trailer, but as a Portlander I might end up disliking it anyway, since I've actually known people who would eat a watermelon out of a dumpster, and they're fucking awful people. Here's hoping they don't do too good a job representing them!

IFC is really incredible. The shows you mentioned + Arrested Development, Undeclared, Freaks & Geeks, Monty Python… and next year (next month, really) The Larry Sanders Show, The Ben Stiller Show, and… *drumroll*… Mr. Show!

Definitely one of my favorite channels behind AMC. Speaking of, I know that if AMC ever got a comedy, they'd try really hard to get it right. Wonder if they have an exec shopping around for comedy scripts/pitches. PROBABLY! AMC and IFC are streets ahead.

Their ThunderAnt series was pretty good. Feminist Bookstore was too real for my blood.

I watch the Thunderant "Pet Haven" bit about five times a week:

"provided they avoid too many easy hipster jokes."

I don't think there exists a joke to easy for Fred Armisen.
