Tell Your Friends! The Concert Film! Chronicles the NYC Comedy Scene

The producers behind weekly NYC comedy show Tell Your Friends! have made a documentary/movie about the show, one featuring performances by Reggie Watts, Kurt Braunohler & Kristen Schaal, Christian Finnegan, Leo Allen, Rob Paravonian, Liam McEneaney and folk-rock duo A Brief View of the Hudson. They also talked to folks such as Janeane Garofalo, Marc Maron, Paul F. Tompkins, Colin Quinn, Jim Gaffigan, Wyatt Cenac, Kumail Nanjiani, and Hannibal Buress about the comedy scene in NYC. It looks pretty great! They say that the goal was "to create a film akin to The Last Waltz or Woodstock, in that we want to not only feature performances in a concert setting, but also kind of give a sense of what the scene is," which seems like an interesting concept.

It seems to me that this might join "Comedians of Comedy" in my dvd collection. This seems bona fide. I'm pumped. REGGIE WATTS!

I love stuff like this! Comedy docs… Matt Ruby has a good one called "I Need Laughs" that everyone should check out. Tell Your Friends! looks great from what's shown in the trailer.
