Bridesmaids Might Have a Shot at Winning the Comedy World Some Oscars

Comedies have historically been as out of place on the stage of the Oscars as an octopus on a potato farm. As recently as 2009, Zach Galifianakis was overlooked for his great supporting performance in The Hangover. But Judd Apatow, at least, thinks that things could be different this year. "We’re very hopeful about Melissa McCarthy in Supporting," he said. "Kristen Wiig should get recognition too." In addition to the acting categories, there's even some talk of a Best Picture nomination for Bridesmaids. And why not? In the words of Kristen Wiig, "…I think ultimately it’s about the story and characters. You have to care about them or you’re not going to care about the movie whether it is comedy or drama." Yep.

Hell yes. Melissa was great as a comedic actress, but not a lot of people talk about my favorite (and most touching scene) when her character talks about how she was tormented in high school and how she worked hard to get successful.
