The Final Four in the Best Sitcom Episode Ever Tournament is HERE

It's a big day, guys. We're down to a mere four episodes remaining, from an initial pool of 32, in our Best Sitcom Episode Ever Tournament. Next week, we'll bring it down to two and then the winner, but today is for celebrating these, the four sitcom episodes that you have determined to be the best of all time. Lofty praise, but it's hard to argue against any of these classics. Actually, nevermind — it's probably really easy to argue against any of these. But still, we're looking at four very good episodes here.

In any case, on to the results! Who do you got for the big winner? My money's on "Marge vs. the Monorail," as it has been since before we even determined the initial 32. You can't fuck with "Marge vs. the Monorail."

    Simpsons>Fawlty>Arrested>Community.

However, I wonder if anyone agrees that "The Germans" is far from the best episode of "Fawlty Towers"? It's possibly the most famous – though "Waldorf Salad" might lay claim to that – but I would easily take most of the other episodes over "The Germans," which John Cleese accurately notes isn't even that well-constructed of an episode. For me, the first act with the fire alarm is more amusing than the screaming at the Germans.

Maybe "Waldorf Salad," "The Psychiatrist," or "Hotel Inspector" would have been a better candidate…but I quibble.

This is some bull$&*t! I think Community is funny to, but now way should it beat Lucy. I get that I Love Lucy is an old show, but honestly, it is probably the funniest series in TV history (well, maybe second funniest, behind the Simpsons).

I said it before, but it's bananas that the Modern Warfare episode of Community was knocked out, but Remedial Chaos Theory is still in. Modern Warfare was by far the better episode. Though, in fairness, as much as I love Community, I don't think either episode should be in the Final Four.

Can't say I'm surprised Simpsons beat Seinfeld, but I don't understand how Seinfeld got thrashed so hard.

Really? Remedial Chaos Theory beats arguably the most classic sitcom episode of all time? And by a huge margin? If another contest like this is held in the future, I suggest it include only sitcoms from the past 15 years or so. We Splitsider devotees clearly don't have much understanding of anything before then.

Fawlty Towers is good, but no way should it beat Cheers.

    Dear Splitsider,

Please do not carry out such a stupid "competition" again. Comedy is not a sport. It is not a competition. This is a waste of time.
