Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis to Leave SNL After This Season?

Bastion of respectable entertainment journalism Us Magazine is reporting that Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis are all planning to leave SNL at the end of this season. It wouldn't be entirely surprising, as these three (plus Bill Hader) have the biggest movie careers of any current SNL castmembers, and have all been on the show since 2005. It may be time to move on! But with Mittens Romney set to take on Obama this fall, one may expect Sudeikis to stick around and keep playing the Stormin' Mormon until his inevitable defeat in November (or stick around for 4-8 more years playing President Romney. I'm no Nostrodamus!). In any case, take the source into account and take this one with a grain of salt — but it does sound pretty reasonable. [via]

What is it going to take to get Kenan out of there? Christ!

@Slutface A sequel to Goodburger or Stan Helsing. Of course, it isn't Christ who would make that happen, it would take the other guy.

Sudeikis really isn't needed to play Romney… he hasn't exactly done anything notable to make it his own. Maybe they can get Kate McKinnon to a caricature, those are always funnier than accurate impressions. Proof: Will Ferrell.

While the show might suffer in the short term without them, it will give some of the other players the chance to stand out. There's an entire generation growing up that wont miss these three.

Speaking of Ferrell, he left the show before W was out of office, and that was an iconic SNL character and an actual "elected" president. Sudeikis leaving before Romney loses isn't really a big deal. What we really need is someone else to play Obama.

This might be a bit out there, but what about approaching Bo Burnham to join the cast? If Samburg leaves, they'd miss out on his musical contributions (one assumes Jorma and Akiva leave with him) and Burnham would bring his young audience and some really smart writing with him.

@Francis Rizzo III@twitter Jorma and Akiva left before this season began, which is why the (less prolific) Digital Shorts have been more miss than hit since then!

I'd hate to see them go, but the way Taran Killam and Vanessa Bayer have been tearing it up, it would be nice to see them take the lead. And I happen to think Kenan is funny, so nyah.

Abby Eliott might also be leaving right? Doesnt she have a pilot being considered for pick-up?

@Francis Rizzo III@twitter Actually just read she got fired from that pilot.

@Rishabh Bablani@twitter Makes sense. Thanks for the info.
