NBC Officially Orders Up Comedies ‘Save Me’ and ‘New Normal’ to Series
NBC is starting to fill out its fall schedule, having already ordered Matthew Perry’s Go On to series and now doing the same with Anne Heche’s Save Me and Ryan Murphy’s The New Normal. Here’s the synopsis of Save Me, which received a 13-episode order: “Heche stars as a woman in a broken marriage who transforms into a version of herself and creates miracles along the way.” The New Normal “centers on a blended family made up of a gay couple (Book of Mormon‘s Andrew Rannells and The Hangover‘s Justin Bartha) and the surrogate helping them have a baby of their own.”
What’s not clear is just how many of NBC’s current sitcoms are going to be sticking around for another year. The generally accepted wisdom is that they’ll keep most of the Thursday night lineup, if not all of it, as well as Whitney, but nothing is set in stone yet. But we’ll know for sure a week from today, May 14th, when NBC execs unveil the full fall lineup to advertisers at their annual upfronts presentation.
