The First Splitsider Comedy Book Club Book Is…

And Here's The Kicker by Mike Sacks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHTK won the popular comment vote, narrowly beating Chris Gethard's A Bad Idea I'm About to Do (which will definitely be the second book we'll do). In a way, it's the perfect book to start the series, as it offers so many different points of view. The book features 21 interviews with some of the most revered comedy writers ever from George Meyer to David Sedaris to Jack Handey to Bob Odenkirk to Harold Ramis – seriously, I kind of just want to list all the amazing names – each offering their unique perspective on comedy.

So, what's next? Step 1: We buy the book, unless you already have it, in which case you just need to remove the book from your bookshelf (be careful). If you buy it through our amazon link, it would be pretty cool because we'd get a few nickels from it. You obviously don't have to but maybe if you wanted to get us an early 2nd anniversary gift. Step 2: Start reading the book. The hope is to finish the whole thing in a month. In two weeks, I'll check in and share what I've loved thus far, please do the same.

Let me know if you have any questions, thoughts, suggestions. I look forward to hearing from/reading with you (catchphrase!).

If you have a kindle and Amazon Prime you can borrow it for free(you have to do it through your kindle).  Or buy it and throw a few nickels at Splitsider.

Also, cartoonist Daniel Clowes had an interview which didn't make it into the book, but which is available in all its glory at the official site: http://www.andheresthekicker.com/ex_daniel_clowes.php

I first read this book two years ago, and it hasn't left my nightstand since. Todd Hanson's interview, in particular, has seen its fair share of rereads. Looking forward to some engaging discussion.

Great pick. I read it; it's the only anthology of entertainers-on-entertaining that I've actually learned from.

Just picked it up from the library…. (sorry Jesse!)
