Jay Pharoah to Take Over Obama this Season on 'SNL'

Lorne Michaels told The New York Times: “Jay has been doing Obama in his act this summer, and Jay is coming into his own…I just thought it might be time to shake it up.” And so it was written. People have been clamoring for Pharoah to take over that role since he was first cast; however, the famously deliberate Michaels wanted to make sure he was ready for that VERY prominent role. Sure, Pharoah can be very accurate but the question was always: Can he make him a character, can he make him funny? The article also reveals that Taran Killam is the likely choice for Paul Ryan. Watch a couple videos of Pharoah doing an impression of Obama below. Well, an impression of Obama if he was wearing a giant yellow t-shirt with The Rolling Stones mouth on it and drinking champagne with someone named Champain.

This frees up Fred to put his genius to work in non-political sketches!

As it should've been from the minute they hired Pharoah. He's totally underused… with some major cast members moving on from SNL, hopefully he'll get some more screen time.

Well, at least this will give Jay Pharoah an actual reason to be on the damned show. He's by far the weakest performer not to be canned from SNL within one season.
