Fox Trims Episode Order for Midseason Sitcom ‘The Goodwin Games’
Fox has just cut the episode order for its upcoming midseason comedy The Goodwin Games in half, TV Line reports. The network had originally asked for 13 episodes of the show, a sitcom about a trio of siblings competing to win their recently-deceased father’s multi-million dollar inheritance, but sliced that number down to 7 today. Goodwin Games, Fox’s only sitcom lined up for midseason, comes from the creators of How I Met Your Mother and stars Scott Foley, Becky Newton, and T.J. Miller, with up-and-coming stand-up Jerrod Carmichael recurring. According to TV Line‘s source, the cutback was made because Fox doesn’t have enough space on the schedule, not because they’re unhappy with the show. Fox recently extended New Girl, The Mindy Project, and Raising Hope‘s orders to 24 episodes this season (plus Ben and Kate‘s to 19), making the network’s Tuesday night comedy block, which is the only place in Fox’s schedule Goodwin would fit, filled to the brim. Either way, it’s certainly not good news for The Goodwin Games, which is one of the most promising new shows of the spring.
