James Van Der Beek Says 'Don't Trust the B' Has "Basically Been Canceled"

ABC's second-year sitcom Don't Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 has been in trouble ever since the network put it up in a late October premiere on Tuesday nights last fall, paired with Happy Endings up against stiff competition from NBC and Fox's comedy blocks. Now, one of the show's stars, James Van Der Beek says it's pretty much canceled. Van Der Beek wrote on Twitter, "Sad to say ABC has pulled #Apt23 and will not be airing the 8 remaining episodes any time soon. Translation: we've basically been cancelled." ABC will back-to-back new episodes of Happy Endings in Don't Trust the B's slot until handing the hour over to Dancing with the Stars on March 19th. This is coming just a week after ABC boss Paul Lee said of Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B, "We love those two shows. They're incredibly distinctive, and they’re water-cooler shows…We haven’t made any decisions, but I can tell you that these are shows that we love." It's a bummer the network didn't give Don't Trust the B a better timeslot and treatment, as it is clearly a funny show with a lot of potential to become a hit. Fingers crossed Happy Endings makes it out of this okay.

Wasn't my decision, Margaret! You must have mistaken me for an ABC executive.

No I don't think I did that, this seems like it's a personal decision you made to upset me!

I liked don't trust the B. James was the best part of the show I think. I think they should've moved days instead of putting it up against everything on monday. I need comedy everyday of the week not only on monday, tuesday, wed, thurs…

Unreal. The first good ABC comedy in forever and they cancel it. This was honestly the funniest new thing on TV.
