Tina Fey In Talks to Star as a Russian Gulag Prison Guard in the New 'Muppets' Movie

Tina Fey is in negotiations to star with Ricky Gervais and Modern Family's Ty Burrell in the new Muppets movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. If Fey takes the job, the three will be the only humans leads in the untitled film, although, as usual, a lot of cameos from big names are planned. Fey's character is a Russian gulag prison guard, with Burrell as a clueless Interpol inspector and Gervais as the male lead. The Muppets sequel will reunite Gervais and Fey, who both starred in Gervais's movie The Invention of Lying, and it would be Fey's first post-30 Rock job. This weekend, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler take over Golden Globes hosting duties from Ricky Gervais, who MC'd the ceremony the past three years, so expect Gervais to criticize Fey mightily on the Muppets set for not pushing the envelope like he did with his shocking celebrity zingers.

I'm sorry, I know this is probably old news, but the idea of Ricky Gervais as the lead in a muppet movie is maybe one of the worst things I've heard in a long time. Like, I am genuinely distraught now.
