David Alan Grier, Krysten Ritter, Annie Mumolo All Land Pilots
Network TV’s pilot season continues, and here are the latest actresses and actors who have been
- David Alan Grier and Ari Graynor (The Guilt Trip, For a Good Time, Call…) have been cast in CBS’s TV adaptation of the 2011 movie Bad Teacher. Graynor will be taking over Cameron Diaz’s role as an attractive but morally-bankrupt middle school teacher. Grier is playing her clueless principal, a role originated by John Michael Higgins. Community writer Hilary Winston is scripting the pilot, and original Bad Teacher screenwriters Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are producing.
- Bridesmaids co-writer Annie Mumolo booked the lead role in an ABC pilot called Middle Age Rage. She plays a middle-aged mom and wife who decides to put her foot down and start demanding the respect she deserves. The show comes from writer Cheryl Holliday (Still Standing, King of the Hill).
- Don’t Trust the B star Krysten Ritter is looking to return to TV quickly with a starring role in the NBC sitcom Assistance, about an assistant torn between her fiance and her work-husband – all while dealing with a crazy boss. Leslye Headland is writing the script, based on her play of the same name, and Gary Sanchez’s Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Owen Burke are producing.
- Mandy Moore has been cast as one of the lead roles in ABC’s adaptation of the UK sitcom Pulling, about three ladies in their 30s living their lives the way they want. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are adapting the show.
