The 82 Best Comedies Currently Streaming on Netflix

As Netflix becomes a spot for television binge-watching, ventures into the world of original content with House of Cards, and prepares to make a lot of people really, really happy by finally bringing back Arrested Development, it can be hard to remember what Netflix was originally there for — flix for the Net! Right?

The website is constantly adding a ton of new titles that can often slip by unnoticed if they don't make it into your homepage recommendations. Amid the weird knock-off movies and forgettable television that is forever at everyone's fingertips, there is also a pretty good amount of quality comedy on the streaming service.

Here are 82 of the best comedies currently available to stream on Netflix. Try not to watch them all at once. Or do, that doesn't even sound that bad!

Classics:

Get caught up on the movies that everybody else has seen, so that you don't have to worry about being the subject of your co-worker's "I can't believe you haven't seen _____!!" outbursts.

-Ferris Bueller's Day Off
-The Graduate
-Clueless
-The Odd Couple
-Slap Shot
-A Fish Called Wanda
-The Bad News Bears (1976)
-Planes, Trains and Automobiles

    • http://www.purevolume.com/thecoconutbanger Matt Hakel

Peep show really is my favorite c omedy show of all time. Be SURE to track down the sketch shows That Mitchell and Webb situation, and that Mitchell and Webb look. They have a great life DVD called the two faces of Mitchell and Webb. And a film called magicians which co stars daisy from spaced, which is obviously also fantastic.

  • Brittany Mitchell

I would add That Mitchell and Webb Look and Pulling. Great list.

  • yunkstahn

Yes yes yes Peep Show and That Mitchell and Webb Look!

    • http://twitter.com/Metatron_Qube nacho borealis

They were removed Feb 1st. I was only through Season 3 :(

  • Dwinn

They might be listed as "classics" on netlfix, which could explain their omission. But films from Chaplin, Keaton and the Marx Brothers should not be ignored.

THIS IS GREAT! Love love love this list.

  • Jessica

Unfortunately, Peep Show and That Mitchell and Webb Look expired recently. You can see them on Hulu, though.

  • Laura G.

Patrice O'Neal's comedy special is hilarious! 'white baby on a keychain'

  • Star Jonestown

Bill Burr's stand-up specials are phenomenal. There are 3 of them available. Also, Doug Stanhope did an incredibly dark and memorable set in NYC that is a huge recommend for people who love comedy. And I recently watched the entire LARRY SANDERS show. Greatest of All Time, cable comedy division.

Can't believe they didn't mention Bill Burr. Best comic working today and it's not even close. Yeah, Louie is great, but…

  • Athenian

What about Wilford, the Tick, Sunny in Philadelphia, The League, and recently discovered hidden gem by actor who did Rescue Me, but forget title….very funny.

  • graybull

Here's a few more for what it's worth:
Trading Places, Jeff Who Lives at Home, Safety Not Guaranteed, Bottle Rocket, UCB: ASSSSCAT!, Very Bad Things

  • meowgretthatcher

SNUFF. BOX. If only Netflix had Mighty Boosh too.

    • Nicole

I keep hoping they will add the Boosh.

    • DudeFaceofAmerica, Sr.

That's what brought me to this article. How is Mighty Boosh NOT on Netflix streaming?

  • @horrordad

    Jim Norton: Please Be Offended

  • RenoGruber

Great list, gotta agree that Bill Burr is a must add, but overall nailed it.

  • Rezpect

I would definitely categorize Young Adult as a Dramatic Comedy.

  • attentionFREAK

AGREED. PEEP SHOW IS THE BEST COMEDY EVER!!!! They signed up for one more year. They just finished their 8th series I believe. You can see them on youtube.

  • Nicole

    Black Books is fantastic.

  • Movie czar

    No Ideocracy?

  • mike

Good list. I would have included "Withnail and I" with the imports. One of the best coming of age comedies.

  • mac

office space in cult classics. The office, and Trailer park boys

  • R B

If you click one of the movie titles, it starts playing the movie. Seriously? That is very annoying, obviously. Clicking the movie should bring up a description of the movie, perhaps with an optional "Play" button to start the movie.

  • D.j. West

Something is wrong with you if you think Barton Fink is a comedy…

  • clementinesalmassi321

Long Story Short is extremely good.

  • Matias Magallanes

They could be listed as "classics" on netlfix, that could explain their omission
. But films from Chaplin, Keaton and also the Marx Siblings shouldn't be overlooked.
