Kristen Schaal's First Hour-Long Special to Debut on Comedy Central on April 1st

Comedy Central announced this week that April 1st will be the premiere of Kristen Schaal: Live at the Fillmore, the first hour-long stand-up special from Schaal, who you probably know from The Daily Show, Bob's Burgers, 30 Rock, and a million other amazing things. The special, which features a cameo from Schaal's comedy partner Kurt Braunohler, will be released via an extended DVD the next day,on April 2nd. It'll debut on Comedy Central Monday, April 1st at midnight — unless this is all just some elaborate April Fool's Day prank by Schaal, which wouldn't be all that surprising.

    She talked on Comedy Bang Bang about how the special wasn't going to be released when it was originally scheduled because she wasn't happy with it. She said anyone who attended knew what she was talking about. Does anyone know what she was talking about??

      Yes I noticed that and she said the same thing on Jeselnik's show recently! Both times the host brought it up, which is unusual at least on CBB. Especially now with the April Fool's Day release date, there must be some Schaalian shenanigans at play here.

        It's coming out on the 1st. Comedy Central issued a press release about it after Schaal's Bang Bang/Jeselnik appearances, and Comedy Central has screeners of the special available for the press.

        She's making some disparaging comments on twitter about it now too. If it's an elaborate April Fool's day joke, I'm totally ok with that.

      Heh, it was all part of the act. I would have thought that the reference to needing water would be a tip off to that fact given how much crap the daily show has given Marc Rubio.

    ohhh I hope she keeps it up, a lot of pressure on a show like that. If I could pass down a little pep speech my dad always gave me when I ever messed up, " you should have ended up in a napkin. but you made it anyways." R.I.P. miss you dad.

      I don't think she was very happy with the show, and if she was F'n around, I don't get it. Still love her on the daily show

      I think the point is that whether or not it was staged, it was simply *not* funny… and this is coming from a fan of hers. The whole thing just dragged on… you could hear it in the audience (or rather lack of hearing anything) and judging by everyone here… most didnt like it.

      No need to be "loling", or what I like to call "laughing" at us. We are well aware that it was an attempt at awkward humor. What we, or at least I, are trying to say is that it tanked. It wasn't funny.

    I loved her in Flight of the Conchords and in other movies, but this was just so bad. I'm a bit disappointed, I would be really unhappy if I paid to see this live. At times I wasnt sure if she was really crashing this bad or was it part of the act. Regardless, it was simply not funny. If she ever gets another chance, I sincerely hope its better.
