The ‘Office’ Wrap Party Was This Weekend, and It Was Awesome

The Office’s series wrap party went down in Scranton, PA on Saturday, and in case you missed the news, it included ten thousand fans and a glorious surprise attendance by Steve Carell. As Splitsider’s resident Pennsylvanian, I had some dippy eggs and scrapple then immediately made the trek to the Electric City to check out the home of Dunder Mifflin and pay homage to one of my favorite shows of all time. Here’s a recap of the day complete with cast member photos and video clips:

Here’s just a portion of the line for the behind-the-scenes panel featuring Greg Daniels, Paul Lieberstein, Allison Silverman, Steve Burgess, Matt Sohn, Phil Shea, Claire Scanlon, and Carrie Kemper. Coincidentally, it was also Diversity Day on the University of Scranton campus.

Andy Buckley AKA David Wallace graciously took loads of photos with fans near the back of the line. He sported that yellow “Suck It” hoodie all day.

Following the discussion panel was an afternoon parade featuring Greg Daniels and the attending cast members.

Phyllis Smith shows a fan some love.

Oscar Nunez ponders the absurdity of fame.

Kate Flannery signs autographs.

Brian Baumgartner being the man.

Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski easily got the loudest reception of the parade.

Rainn Wilson closes out the parade.

After the parade, the cast appeared on stage with The Scrantones to sing songs and warm up the crowd.

May 4th is officially declared The Office Day in Lackawanna County.

Brian Baumgartner sings the only part of “Roxanne” that he knows.

Phyllis, Kate, Jenna, and Ellie sing.

After the daytime festivities end, fans head over to PNC Field in nearby Moosic for the farewell celebration.

The People Person’s Paper Cups were passed around as souvenirs.

Andy Buckley rounds the bases.

Rainn Wilson also opted to run a lap for his grand entrance.

After all the attending cast members made their entrance, the ultimate surprise happened — Steve Carell announced as MICHAEL SCOTT! It was truly a cathartic Office fanatic moment for all.

The full lineup: Ellie Kemper, Craig Robinson, Creed Bratton, Paul Lieberstein, Kate Flannery, Oscar Nunez, Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson, Greg Daniels, Phyllis Smith, and Andy Buckley.

The farewell celebration also included a ten-minute sneak peek of the series finale episode, which airs on May 16th. Spoiler alert: Andy gets an audition, Jim ignores some phone calls, and there is a fantastic painting of Dwight hanging in the conference room.

After the farewell celebration, most of the cast partied at the Backyard Ale House back in Scranton late into the night. Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski tweeted the following photos:
