Watch John Oliver's Excellent Debut as 'Daily Show' Host

Last night was John Oliver's first episode hosting The Daily Show, while Jon Stewart spends the summer directing a movie, and he had a smooth and funny transition into the anchor's seat. Oliver masterfully covered the NSA wiretapping scandal, interviewed Seth Rogen, and did a fun bit in which the other correspondents joined him to talk about how jealous they are he got to take over for Jon Stewart. It should be an enjoyable summer for The Daily Show if Oliver's stint as host continues to go this well.

Check out the rest of the episode below:

  • Michael San Filippo

I think he did a great job in the first two segments. He didn't seem nearly as comfortable during the interview, but that's to be expected … that part of his game will probably take some time to develop (it was also a good reminder of how skilled Stewart is in that role … it's not an easy thing to do).

It will be fun to watch him settle in and add more of his personality to the role as host. I imagine he'll drift over the next few months and I'm looking forward to see where he goes.
