'Anchorman 2' Is Chasing an Oscar Nomination for Best Original Song

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues happens to be coming out right during awards season, and the studio behind the movie is actually campaigning for a "Best Original Song" Oscar nomination. Check out Paramount's "For Your Consideration" site to hear "Doby," a funny, overblown song from Anchorman 2 that Will Ferrell sings with backup from a childrens' choir. Ferrell and McKay co-wrote the song with the movie's composers, John Nau and Andrew Feltenstein. An Oscar nomination for the comedic song wouldn't be too surprising as the comedy Ted was nominated for "Best Original Song" last year and The Muppets won the category the year before.

Anchorman 2's soundtrack doesn't come out until December 17th, but it features several more original songs from the movie. That's no surprise considering that Ferrell and McKay originally wanted to do Anchorman 2 as a Broadway musical for six months and then go film the movie afterwards. The soundtrack features Ron Burgundy songs "Have an American Night" and "Life Isn't a Fairy Tale," a Burgundy/Fantana duet called "Ladykillers," a Burgundy/Tamland duet called "RV Reminiscing," and a cover of Christopher Cross's "Ride Like the Wind" by Ron Burgundy and Robin Thicke, which will also be made into a music video. Check out the full soundtrack listing (via The Playlist) below:
