Fox News Anchor Howard Kurtz Says He’s Going to “Take On” Stephen Colbert, Somehow
Fox News anchor Howard Kurtz, who hosts the weekly media criticism show Media Buzz, is really mad at Stephen Colbert, and he seems to be confused about whether Colbert is a real journalist or not.
Basically, Kurtz did a report on whether Hillary Clinton is too old to run for President. The Colbert Report played the clip and Stephen Colbert made fun of him for asking the question and the way he asked it. Kurtz is upset they didn’t play his whole segment, claiming his work was taken out of context, but the best part is the baffling Colbert attack Kurtz wrote for Fox News Insider today about how he’s going to “take on” the Comedy Central host by criticizing him on his show this Sunday:
It’s about time someone took on Stephen Colbert.
This guy—a fake anchor if ever there was one—has been maligning hard-working journalists for too long.
Journalists like me.
In an effort to get a few cheap laughs, this Comedy Central clown took my work out of context and, worse, engaged in selective editing. It was nothing less than a deliberate attempt to mislead viewers.
I’ll be responding in spades on Sunday’s Media Buzz.
Kurtz seems to be unaware that Stephen Colbert isn’t a real news anchor, and best of all, he ends his piece with, “Now Colbert was perfectly nice to me when I was once on his show, but it’s now clear he was just trying to disarm me for future attacks. Well, two can play this game, buddy. If I really want to get down in the dirt with him, I might even try to be funny.” Tune in to Kurtz’s show, Media Buzz, which airs Sunday at 11am and 5pm ET, to watch a Fox News anchor who thinks that Stephen Colbert is a real journalist try to “take on” Stephen Colbert by “trying to be funny.” Should be pretty great.
