‘The Maya Rudolph Show’ Did Well in the Ratings Last Night, So There Will Probably Be More of It
Last night, NBC aired The Maya Rudolph Show, a one-off variety show special hosted by SNL alum Maya Rudolph that’s doubles as a pilot for a potential series. Ratings are in and The Maya Rudolph Show performed well, winning its hour and scoring 7.2 million viewers and a 2.2 rating with adults 18-49. The show beat out its competition, a Criminal Minds rerun on CBS and the second half of ABC’s The Bachelorette premiere; however Rudolph Show lost a good amount of ratings from its lead-in, The Voice, and dropped 21% after the first half-hour.
Despite that, this was still a pretty good showing for the special, which featured appearances from Kristen Bell, Andy Samberg, Sean Hayes, Fred Armisen, and more. NBC beat out Fox and ABC to buy The Maya Rudolph Show last year and will now decide whether to turn it into a full-fledged series or not. Those solid ratings might just push them towards a series order.
