Kyra Sedgwick to Star in an HBO Comedy About a Disillusioned Nun
While Amy Poehler is developing an NBC comedy about an agnostic woman who inherits a church, Entertainment Weekly reports that Kyra Sedgwick is going the opposite route. Sedgwick has partnered with The New Adventures of Old Christine creator Kari Lizer to create and star in a half-hour HBO comedy about a nun who leaves the church. The untitled single-cam show will center on Sedgwick as Kate, a disillusioned nun who walks away from her vocation: “No longer ‘Sister Katherine,’ she’s turned her back on her old life and now finds herself coming of age, trying to figure out who she is without her vows and what it means to be an ordinary woman. A person who believes in believing, she’ll try to figure out what or whom she’ll put her faith in now.” Sedgwick and Lizer will also serve as co-executive producers.
