Rob McElhenney to Make His Feature Directorial Debut with Family Film ‘Figment’

mcelhenneyIt’s Always Sunny star Rob McElhenney is set to make his feature directorial debut. Deadline reports that McElhenney will produce, direct, and write a family action comedy called Figment for Legendary Pictures, who reportedly closed a “potential seven-figure commitment” with McElhenney after he presented them with a four-minute test reel and 20-minute pitch for the film. Figment centers on “an imaginative boy and his family who are thrown for a loop when their greatest fears come to life.” The reel McElhenney presented to Legendary reportedly “has thematic aspirations to be comparable to a Goonies or E.T.Figment follows last month’s news that McElhenney and his Always Sunny costars sold a comedy pilot to FX starring standup Bill Burr.
