Ben Stiller to Produce Hourlong Dramedy Series ‘Super Sad True Love Story’
On top of working on the long-rumored Zoolander sequel, Ben Stiller has teamed up with the company behind House of Cards to develop a new show. THR reports that Media Rights Capital is currently developing an hourlong TV adaptation of Gary Shteyngart’s bestselling novel Super Sad True Love Story with Ben Stiller attached to executive produce via his production company Red Hour Films. The dramedy will follow “the unlikely relationship between a bookish man stuck in a tech-obsessed society and a complex, materialistic young Korean-American woman. While navigating this romance he must also contend with mounting demands from his charismatic boss, who is himself being pressured by the domineering American government.” The project is reportedly in late development stages, but no cast members have been revealed. Shteyngart will co-write the script with Karl Gajdusek (Dead Like Me, Last Resort).
