Stephen Colbert Is Giving $800,000 to South Carolina Public School Teachers
As if you needed any more proof that Stephen Colbert is an awesome guy with a heart of gold, Daily Kos reports that Colbert has decided to fund every existing grant request made by public school teachers in his home state of South Carolina via DonorsChoose.org. Colbert made the announcement today at a surprise event at an elementary school in Greenville, where he revealed that he’s teamed up with Share Fair Nation and ScanSource to fund all of the crowdfunding projects (nearly 1,000 of them) for over 800 teachers at over 375 schools, with a grand total of $800,000 in donations. Much of the money comes from the proceeds of The Colbert Report auctioning off its set pieces last year.
