The Iconic ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ Marquee Is No More

A week after tearing down David Letterman’s Late Show set, crews at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York went to work this morning in the most symbolic reminder of Letterman’s retirement yet by dismantling the Late Show marquee on Broadway between 53rd and 54th Street. Check out some photos of the entire process via the New York Post and NYT’s Dave Itzkoff, and if your eyes get a little watery, just remember that in a matter of months we’ll get a shiny new sign that says “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
