NBC Developing a ‘Larry Sanders’-Style Comedy About Children’s Show Puppeteers

hader-puppetABC’s very Office-esque Muppets show debuts on the network next month, and now NBC is stepping in to get a piece of the puppet comedy pie. According to Deadline, the network has given a put pilot commitment to Bumbleberry Lane, an ensemble comedy by Gary Janetti (Will & Grace, Family Guy) described as “in the vein of The Larry Sanders Show (but with puppets)” that will follow “a group of misfits working at a public television children’s show” as they “try to prevent their messy personal lives from spilling over into their jobs, sometimes resulting in puppets behaving badly. The R-rated show behind the G-rated show.”
