‘The Office’s Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky Developing ‘Dick Earnest’ at CBS

cbs_logoCBS just added a new comedy to its development slate from former Office writers/producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. Deadline reports that the network has given a script commitment to a multi-cam show from the duo called Dick Earnest, a comedy set in 1957 that centers on the title character, “the patriarch of the Ernest family,” who “has his mainstream values challenged when his beatnik nephew moves in and starts putting ‘modern’ ideas into the heads of the rest of the family.” In addition to The Office, Eisenberg and Stupnitsky co-created HBO’s Hello Ladies with Stephen Merchant and wrote the 2011 film Bad Teacher, and they also have a comedy in development at ABC Family called Gorgeous Morons.
