Jerrod Carmichael on His NBC Sitcom: “I Just Wanted to Treat the Audience like Adults”

Here’s a clip from Jerrod Carmichael’s visit to last night’s Late Night, where he chats with Seth Meyers about some of the big issues he’s covered this season on The Carmichael Show. Whether it’s the Bill Cosby scandal, gentrification, or Islamophobia, Carmichael says he approaches every topic on the show the same way: “I just wanted to treat the audience like adults,” he explains. “A lot of times you see sitcoms, and everyone’s just like ‘And this is a crazy thing that happened!’ … But it’s not interesting or good, and I just wanted to treat everyone like the adults that they are.” Watch some more clips from the interview below:
