A Comedy/Drama Series About the Early Days of ‘National Lampoon’ Is in the Works

nationallampoonThere’s been a documentary, there’s a feature film on the way by David Wain, and now, it might become a scripted comedy/drama too. According to Deadline, A+E Studios has acquired the rights to develop a workplace comedy/drama based on last year’s documentary Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon, which looks back on the early days of the Lampoon and its writers. The TV version currently in development has Lampoon co-founder Matty Simmons onboard as a consulting producer, and one can only hope that if the project lands a series order, it’ll have a cast half as good as Wain’s movie A Futile and Stupid Gesture.
