‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’ to Offer Expanded Election Coverage
Full Frontal with Samantha Bee has become an instant hit, with ratings skyrocketing since its February premiere. The show features beloved former Daily Show correspondent Bee taking on current events more seriously than other comedy-heavy news shows tend to — popular topics from the shows first few months include the clusterfuckery of the Veterans Health Administration, the hypocrisy of the NRA, and Georgia’s controversial rape kit legislation.
Currently, Full Frontal has a half an hour every Monday on TBS, but given the show’s huge viewership and deft, informed takes on sensitive subjects, fans have been demanding more from Bee and her Emmy-nominated team of writers. In response, TBS aired A Very Special Full Frontal Special in July, with reporting from the RNC trenches — but can we expect more in-depth coverage leading up to the election?
Apparently, it’s up to Bee. Kevin Reilly, TBS network president, has thrown his support behind Bee, saying “I’d give Sam as many hours as she’d like,” but that his host is happy with the show’s weekly half-hour slot.
That doesn’t mean we won’t be getting more Full Frontal — TBS has plans to air another expanded hour closer to the election, with the possibility of more to come. To tide us over til then, expect more digital content, like exclusive clips and expanded takes, coming your way soon.
