Netflix Orders ‘Atypical’ Comedy Starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, Keir Gilchrist, and Michael Rapaport
Netflix just ordered a new family comedy to its roster. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming network has ordered eight episodes of a new comedy called Atypical starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, Keir Gilchrist, and Michael Rapaport. Written by Robia Rashid and co-executive produced Seth Gordon (The Goldbergs), the series centers on Gilchrist as Sam, “an 18-year-old on the autistic spectrum and his search for love and independence. His funny yet painful journey of self-discovery upends his entire family and forces them all to grapple with change in their own lives as they struggle with what it means to be normal.” Leigh and Rapaport will play Sam’s parents, Brigette Lundy-Paine will play Sam’s sister Casey, and Amy Okuda will play Sam’s therapist Julia.
