Chris Rock and ‘Nightly Show’s Robin Thede Are Developing a Weekly Comedy News Show
Former Nightly Show head writer Robin Thede has teamed up with Chris Rock to develop her own weekly comedy news show. According to Variety, Thede and Rock are working on a half-hour show with Jax Media called The Rundown with Robin Thede, which will include sketches, in-studio segments, and field pieces and take “look at the week’s headlines, celebrity newsmakers, social media buzz and pop culture trends.” The pilot episode will tape in New York on Monday, and Jax will begin looking for a home for the project at the end of the month. “Some people only know me as a comedian, and some people only know me as a writer,” Thede told Variety on the news. “This marries the best of those things. This show blends field and studio comedy and plays to my strengths as a writer and performer. I want to create a (show) that is unlike anything else on the market.” Check out our interview with Thede about assembling the team behind Larry Wilmore’s Nightly Show here.
