The Second City Prepares for Another Brutal Chicago Winter Through Song
Welcome to The Second City Archives, in which we post an exclusive clip each week of some of comedy’s biggest superstars performing early in their careers on the legendary Chicago stage. Second City has generously given us a glimpse into their extensive archive of live performances, and over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some rare and retro comedy never before seen on the web.
Daylight Savings and Thanksgiving have come and gone, and with Christmas now less than a month away, it’s time for many Americans to hunker down and endure another long, brutal winter, and no one knows how a truly horrible winter feels quite like the residents of Chicago. From the 2009 revue Taming of the Flu, this week’s clip from Second City features ensemble performers Lauren Ash, Shelly Gossman, Anthony LeBlanc, Brad Morris, Andy St. Clair, and Emily Wilson singing a song all about the joys — well really, the horrors — of winter in Chicago: “The bus is late. Where’s the bus? Oh God, the wind! The goddamn wind!”
