NBC Is Developing a Show Based on ‘What About Bob?’ Called ‘What About Barb?’

what_about_bobNBC is turning to the movie What About Bob? for its newest comedy project. According to Variety, the network has ordered a pilot called What About Barb?, a single-cam comedy based on the 1991 comedy starring Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss that follows “a psychotherapist who tries to cut ties with her most overbearing patient, but is unsuccessful and gains an annoying family member in the process.” While Variety’s report calls the pilot a “female twist” on the original film, there aren’t any women involved with it — it’s co-executive produced by writer Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, who have worked on shows like The Odd Couple, Last Man Standing, and New Girl.
