NBC Orders Comedy Pilots from Mindy Kaling, Tina Fey, and Bill Lawrence

kalingNBC just put three new comedy pilots into development. According to Variety, the network has given pilot orders to three new projects from Mindy Kaling, Tina Fey, and Bill Lawrence. The first untitled single-cam comedy from Mindy Kaling and Charlie Grandy follows Vince, “charismatic gym owner with no ambition who lives with his younger brother Michael, a gorgeous idiot. Their simple life of women and working out is put on hold when the teenage son of Vince is dropped off on their doorstep by Priya (Kaling), one of his old high school flings.” Next up is a single-cam comedy produced Tina Fey and Robert Carlock and written by Luke Del Tredici (30 Rock, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) called The Sackett Sisters, which centers on a family that’s “reunited when two estranged sisters perform an act of public heroism and are forced to navigate the aftermath together.” The final pilot order goes to Bill Lawrence’s space travel comedy Spaced Out written by Adam Sztykiel, another single-cam project that follows “a working class genius and his struggles to fit in with an established team, all made more difficult when their job is building a rocket to Mars.”
