Senator Al Franken Teaches Stephen Colbert the Art of the Pivot on ‘The Late Show’

Here’s a clip from last night’s Late Show, where Stephen Colbert chats with Senator Al Franken about which of his fellow senators have a good sense of humor and which ones, including Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma, are open about their lack of comedy skills. Near the end of the clip, Franken tells Colbert about one skill that was foreign to him prior to becoming a senator – pivoting questions – and gets puts to the test when Colbert asks him a round of direct questions: “Senator Franken, do you plan to run for president in 2020?” “You know, in my book, Stephen, Al Franken, Giant of the Senate, I talk about the importance of levelheaded leadership.”
