HBO Orders a John Oliver-Produced Late Night Docu-Series Starring Wyatt Cenac

wyatt-cenacWyatt Cenac is heading to HBO next year with his own late night show. The network announced today it’s ordered a 10-episode comedic docu-series starring Cenac with Ezra Edelman (O.J.: Made in America), John Oliver, Diane Fitzgerald (Last Week Tonight) and Hallie Haglund (Daily Show) – who will also serve as head writer — attached to executive produce alongside Cenac. The untitled half-hour series “will take a satirical look at social and cultural issues from Cenac’s unique perspective. Rather than sit behind a desk, he will undertake a journey to understand some of the big issues of the moment and investigate real-world solutions.” The show will debut on HBO sometime in Spring 2018.

“While my initial ask to play one of Molly’s love interests on Insecure was rejected, this is a nice consolation,” said Cenac on the news. John Oliver added: “Wyatt is one of the smartest, funniest, most curious people I know. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with.”

Earlier this month, Cenac debuted his new web series aka Wyatt Cenac at Topic.com. Read our interview with him about the series here.
