Seth Meyers Takes “A Closer Look” at Weinstein, Trump, and Systemic Sexism

Here’s a clip from last night’s Late Night, where Seth Meyers takes “A Closer Look” at systemic sexism and how men like Harvey Weinstein, Roger Ailes, and Donald Trump use their power to bully their victims into silence for years. Meyers also notes how Republicans like Kellyanne Conway have tried to turn the Weinstein scandal into a partisan issue, plus Sebastian Gorka’s tweet that Weinstein wouldn’t have gotten into trouble if he followed Mike Pence’s rule about never eating alone with a woman who isn’t his wife. “Can’t believe I have to say this, but you should be able to be alone with a woman and not sexually assault her. In fact, if the only thing holding you back is that there are other people in the room, that’s a problem,” Meyers says. “Look, there are predators of all political persuasions and in both parties. This should not be a partisan issue. And moreover, women should not be held accountable for the predatory behavior of men. This is a problem with systemic misogyny and male entitlement, and men need to speak up and address their complicity in the system that allows these things to happen.”
