The Women of ‘Late Night’ React to the Harvey Weinstein News: “I Was Disgusted and Shocked That People Were Shocked”

Here’s a clip from last night’s Late Night, where Seth Meyers welcomes writers Amber Ruffin, Ally Hord, and Jenny Hagel to the desk to react to the years of sexual harassment by Harvey Weinstein, his attempts to keep it quiet by paying cash settlements to the women he harassed, and his apology now that the news is finally out there. “When he got busted, Weinstein said ‘To make up for it I’m starting a scholarship for women directors.’ That’s just him being around more women!” Hagel says. “That’s not the solution, that’s the problem! That’s like Jared from Subway saying ‘I know I messed up, but don’t worry, I’m starting a t-ball league.'” Ruffin, Hord, and Hagel aren’t the only Late Night employees who had a strong reaction to Weinstein’s apology during the segment, if you consider “strong reaction” nearly flooding the Late Night offices with all their spit takes.
