Watch Chris Gethard and Bobby Moynihan Write the 'Alf' Movie

Here's comedian Chris Gethard's latest video as part of IFC's Adopt-A-Comic series, in which he and old friend Bobby Moynihan (SNL) work towards Gethard's goal of appearing in the upcoming Alf reboot movie. Gethard and Moynihan save the studio making the Alf movie a lot of time and money by basically writing the whole thing for them out loud, and they definitely deserve a cut of the massive profits if and when this Alf movie gets made – whether they're involved or not – because it's going to be hard to separate this Alf project from the pure artistic vision of the character they lay out in this video.

Thomas Lennon is Co-Directing Robert Ben Garant's 'Baywatch' Movie

Robert Ben Garant will be joined by his partner in crime, fellow The State/Reno 911! alum Thomas Lennon, as his co-director for a comedy remake of the cheesy 90s lifeguard soap Baywatch.  This is the silliest project Lennon and Garant have ever worked on, and keep in mind that Lennon wrote “Porcupine Racetrack” and the duo was previously developing a “leprechaun action comedy.”

There Will Be a Book of Mormon Movie, Eventually

With the insane success of Broadway's Book of Mormon, it's only natural to wonder if a movie will be made from it. After all, who can forget how great the movie version of The Producers was? But the answer is yes, yes they will adapt it for the screen; it just might not be for a while. Since the show is still selling out months in advance on Broadway, and a touring version is in the works for next year, there are still a lot of dollars to be made from the stage version.

But once they've squeezed every last drop from the beach towel soaked with [...]

Bill Hader Starring in David Hasselhoff's Old Role in Tom Lennon and Ben Garant's 'Baywatch' Movie (UPDATE)

Last year, it was reported that Reno 911! and The State duo Robert Ben Garant and Tom Lennon were planning to direct a comedic movie version of the cheesy 90s lifeguard soap Baywatch a la 21 Jump Street, and now, they've found their new David Hasselhoff: SNL's Bill Hader. The Wrap reports that Hader will play the movie's lead, based on David Hasselhoff's original character and that Hasselhoff himself and Pamela Anderson will be making cameos.

The Baywatch movie follows the central group of lifeguards dealing with an oil rig off the Malibu coast that turns out to be a meth lab. Jeremy Garelick (The Break-Up) and Peter [...]

Robert Ben Garant to Direct a 'Baywatch' Movie (This Is Real)

In a movie that will likely be 50% in slow motion, Robert Ben Garant is going to direct a comedic version of the syndicated drama about boobs on the beach. The Baywatch script was written by Peter Tolan (creator of Rescue Me, Larry Sanders Show writer) and described as being comparable to Stripes. (Finally, we'll get to see Bill Murray and the ghost of John Candy in red bikinis.) It's not clear yet if Garant will re-work or completely rewrite the script; however, either way, this is one really weird project.

Will Forte to Star in the Elmore Leonard Adaptation 'The Switch'

Will Forte and Tim Robbins just signed on to replace Ty Burrell and Dennis Quaid in supporting roles in writer/director Dan Schechter's big-screen adaptation of Elmore Leonard's 1978 novel The Switch, according to Variety. The crime drama marks Forte's second non-comedic movie after Nebraska, a father-son road trip drama he and Bruce Dern starred in for filmmaker director Alexander Payne. The Switch is a prequel to Rum Punch, the basis for Quentin Tarantino's movie Jackie Brown, with John Hawkes and Mos Def (who now goes by Yasiin Bey, apparently) playing Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara, the characters that Robert DeNiro and Samuel L. Jackson portrayed in Jackie Brown. The [...]

Jorma Taccone to Direct the Film Adaptation of the Graphic Novel The Great Unknown

SNL/The Lonely Island's Jorma Taccone has been tapped to direct The Great Unknown, an adaptation of the graphic novel by Duncan Rouleau. It'll be his second time directing a movie, after the underperforming MacGruber. Here's what to expect in terms of the plot: The comic centers on a slacker with delusions of grandeur who believes his so-called great ideas are popping up elsewhere. After failing to convince his friends and family that his mind is being pilfered, he goes on a quest to solve the mystery behind the idea thefts.

The movie will be an action comedy, while the comic is billed as a "lowfi-scifi," which sounds [...]
