Tonight is the NTSF: SD: SUV:: Christmas special, in which our heroes are hunted by a homicidal Santa Claus. Perfect for the kids! As executive producer Curtis Gwinn, who also directed this episode, told me, "it's sort of a Paranormal Activity meets Tim Allen's The Santa Clause. You know, classic Christmas stuff." If that alone isn't enough to sell you, check out the exclusive clip above. The whole thing airs tonight at 12:15am on Adult Swim.
Childrens Hospital's third season finale airs tonight on Adult Swim. In it, the show revisits what I declare to be the best episode from Season Two: the Newsreaders fake news program that depicted Childrens Hospital's phony history, covering Rob Corddry's attempts to save the show from cancellation with a donation from a woman who thinks she's helping an actual childrens' hospital, how the show bottomed out with a cheesy cameo from a breakdancing troupe, and the various international versions of Childrens Hospital (Canada, Hawaii, L.A., and India only). Here's a clip from last year's Newsreaders episode to hold you over until tonight.
Cream Corn, YESSSSSSSS! I have been suffering from severe nunchuck withdrawal of late (not covered by Aetna), so I'm psyched to hear Adult Swim picked up Black Dynamite, an animated series based on the 2009 blaxploitation spoof of the same name. The show, headed by The Boondocks' artist Carl Jones, will follow the adventures of Black Dynamite and his team as they continue to deliver justice until The Man. Even better, Black Dynamite is voiced by Michael Jai White himself, who will be joined by co-stars Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley and Byron Minn. No news on who will voice Ghost Abe Lincoln, but you better believe he'll be [...]
This Sunday, December 5th, the Tim and Eric Chrimbus Special will be airing on Adult Swim. Like everything Tim and Eric do, it promises to be aggressively insane, surreal and best viewed while high. Here's a little taste of what you can expect.
Currently in the midst of its second season, Adult Swim’s 11-minute crime-comedy Eagleheart has quickly emerged as one of the fastest and funniest shows on TV. For the uninitiated, Eagleheart stars Chris Elliott, Maria Thayer (Strangers with Candy), and Brett Gelman (Comedy Bang Bang) as a trio of sociopathic U.S. Marshals who wind up in all kinds of exceedingly strange and hyper-violent scenarios week to week. Eagleheart is put out by Conan O’Brien’s production company and written by longtime Conan writers Michael Koman and Andrew Weinberg and Human Giant's Jason Woliner, who manage to cram a full 30 minutes worth of story into each 11-minute installment.
Paul Scheer's NTSF:SD:SUV::, or National Terrorism Strike Force: San Diego: Sport Utility Vehicle::, premieres on Adult Swim on July 21, unless the terrorists win first. Based off a faux commercial aired during Childrens Hospital as all good shows soon will be, NTSF:SD:SUV:: follows a government task force charged with protecting San Diego, as it faces attack from those who hate our freedom/deep-water harbors.
Joining Scheer is Rebecca Romjin, Kate Mulgrew, Brandon Johnson, June Diane Raphael, Martin Starr and Rob Riggle as President of the Navy. "This team of highly trained operatives has only one job: saving your ass so you can drive your Prius and see [...]
Next week, Adult Swim is debuting Eagleheart, a new live action series starring Chris Elliott and produced by Conan O’Brien through his company, Conaco Productions. The show has been picked up for a 12 episode run, with each installment lasting 15 minutes. Eagleheart is an over-the-top action-comedy series in which Chris Elliott plays US marshal Chris Monsanto. The series was inspired by the corny dialogue and action of Chuck Norris’s Walker, Texas Ranger. In fact, Eagleheart co-creator Michael Koman mentioned in a recent interview that he had a hand in creating the popular “Walker, Texas Ranger lever” segments when he was a writer for Late Night, so it’s [...]
Adult Swim has turned what started as a spoof commercial by Paul Scheer on Children's Hospital into its own show. Taking aim at crime procedurals in a similar way to how Children's Hospital takes on hospital dramas, National Terrorism Strike Force: San Diego: Sport Utility Vehicle (NTSF: SD: SUV for short) has been picked up for 12 episodes to be written by Scheer. It all started with the above (amazing) clip, which apparently acted as a pilot and got them the entire run. I do love that we live in a time in which a 90-second video can get you a TV show, even if that 90-second clip [...]
Here's the first preview of The Heart, She Holler, the incredibly strange new Adult Swim mini-series that premieres November 6. The trailer alone features a talking iron, a green person, an affair between a woman and a pair of disembodied ghost hands, a rhyming suicidal old lady, a bowl cut, and a puppet. And like, this video isn't even 2 minutes long. But the show stars Patton Oswalt, Patton Oswalt, Patton Oswalt, Kristen Schaal, and Patton Oswalt, so…maybe there'll be a method to its madness. Its abundant, overwhelmingly hyperactive madness.
Because the folks behind Aqua Teen Hunger Force on Adult Swim have been “unhappy with the pilot of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and the subsequent 99 episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” they've decided that it's time for a rebranding. As such, the show will now be known as Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1. It also has a new theme song, by Queens of the Stone Ages' Josh Homme. Also, the show will now take place in Seattle. OK! It all makes a strange sort of sense to me. All of this wonderful oddness kicks off with the new season on May 8th.
There may soon be two more beards on Adult Swim: Jack Black and Jason Lee are making a live-action pilot for the network called Shredd: The Jon Johnsonsen Story. Here's the premise: "Shredd centers on Jon Johnsonsen (Lee) who, as a 17-year-old superstar skateboarder in 1985 was on top of the world until a risky skate move landed him in a coma for 25 years. When he wakes up, he is 42 but stuck in the 1980s mindset of a teenage boy and must cope with all the changes in his life."
Jason Lee co-wrote the pilot and is set to direct it; it's not clear if Jack [...]
