The 'SNL' Library Is Coming to Yahoo in September

Yahoo! announced today that they've obtained  rights to the Saturday Night Live archive from 1975 to 2013 and they'll begin streaming sketches from the show's 38-year history in September. All the content currently on Hulu and Netflix, including Netflix's streaming of every episode, will still be available come September under the Yahoo! deal. This is part of a big comedy push Yahoo! is making that also includes offering the excellent original web series Burning Love and First Dates with Toby Harris. Adam Scott and Wife Launch Production Company, Will Make Three More Adult Swim Specials

Parks and Rec star Adam Scott and his wife Naomi Scott, a former Jimmy Kimmel Live producer, have just opened their own company, Gettin' Rad Productions, and have signed on to produce at least three more 11-minute specials for Adult Swim. The Scotts' first production was The Greatest Event in Television History, an Adult Swim short that debuted Thursday and quickly became a monstrous viral success, racking in over 100,000 views on YouTube and over 60,000 on the Adult Swim site in less than a week plus grabbing an impressive 1 rating in the 18-49 demo during its Adult Swim airing. Zooey Deschanel Launches Her Own TV Production Company

Zooey Deschanel and her Hello Giggles partner Sophia Rossi launched a new TV production company today. Deadline reports that the duo has signed a two-year first look deal to produce and develop new shows for 20th Century Fox TV, the studio that produces her hit sitcom New Girl. The duo recently sold a comedy to Fox as producers called Must Be Nice, which was created by New Girl writer/consulting producer J.J. Philbin. Chris Hardwick's Nerdist Industries Bought by Major Production Company

Legendary Pictures, the production company behind this current Batman trilogy, The Hangover movies, Inception, and like a zillion other films has purchased Chris Hardwick's Nerdist Industries. Nerdist, over the last few years, has grown into a multi-faceted, multi-media nerd empire, including a podcast network, a website, a YouTube channel, an e-newsletter, and a live venue. The goal of the acquisition is to help Nerdist further broaden its brand, especially into TV and movies. Hardwick will maintain his position inside Nerdist, as well assume the position of co-president of Legendry's digital business, which seems like a really fancy job. Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone Start a Production Company and Set Up Three New Movies

Bridesmaids and Mike and Molly's Melissa McCarthy has her first movie in which she has a starring role, Identity Theft, coming out tomorrow, and she's already set up her own production company with her husband, writer/actor Ben Falcone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, McCarthy and Falcone's company is called On the Day and has three movie projects in the works. They are:

  • Michelle Darnell – Based on an original character created by McCarthy and on a story written by McCarthy and Falcone, the plot for this movie is under wraps. McCarthy and Falcone will write the script with fellow Groundlings alum Steve Mallory.
