Jim Carrey to Star in 'Ricky Stanicky'

Jim Carrey is reteaming with his Bruce Almighty/Ace Ventura writer Steve Oedekerk for a new movie. THR reports that Carrey has signed on to star in a comedy called  Ricky Stanicky that Oedekerk, who wrote Bruce Almighty and wrote/directed Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, will re-write and direct. Dan Aykroyd and Allison Janney to Join Melissa McCarthy's 'Tammy'

Melissa McCarthy is lining up quite an impressive cast for Tammy, her first movie as director. Variety reports that Dan Aykroyd and Allison Janney are both in talks to join the cast, which also includes McCarthy, Mark Duplass, Susan Sarandon, and Kathy Bates. Tammy will mark the first movie as screenwriters and directors for McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone, who are serving as co-writers and co-directors on the project. The film follows a woman named Tammy (McCarthy) who hits the road with her profane, alcoholic grandmother (Sarandon) after finding out her husband is cheating on her and quitting her fast food job. Chris O'Dowd in Talks to Be in a Movie with Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy

Chris O'Dowd may reunite with his Bridesmaids co-star Melissa McCarthy in St. Vincent De Van Nuys, a new comedy-drama that has Bill Murray in the lead role. Deadline reports that O'Dowd is in "early talks" to join the cast as a nice Catholic priest who is concerned about Murray's cranky misanthrope character mentoring a 12-year-old neighbor boy whose hardworking single mom (McCarthy) unwisely leaves him in Murray's hands. St. Vincent is the feature film debut of writer/director Ted Melfi, who has a fun Bill Murray story just like everybody who works with Bill Murray does. Chris O'Dowd will probably have one soon too.

Melissa McCarthy and Bill Murray may be making a movie together this summer. Deadline reports that McCarthy is about to be offered the female lead in St. Vincent De Van Nuys, a low-budget comedy-drama that Bill Murray signed onto last year. Deadline writes that "this is a role that all the top comic actresses chased" and that McCarthy auditioned and campaigned hard for the part. Jeffrey Tambor to Star in a New Amazon Pilot for The Onion

Last year, online retailer Amazon began developing six comedy pilots to be released streaming a la Netflix's recent push to produce its own original programming, and beloved comedic actor Jeffrey Tambor has just been cast in one of Amazon's new pilots, Deadline reports. Tambor will star in The Onion Presents: The News, a comedy that takes place behind the scenes of The Onion News Network. Comedian Seaton Smith Joins the Cast of NBC's 'The John Mulaney Show'

The John Mulaney Show, one of the fall's most promising comedy pilots, has finished casting. Deadline reports that Washington, D.C.-based stand-up Seaton Smith has joined the cast in the final regular role on the pilot. Created by and starring SNL writer/stand-up John Mulaney, the pilot is an ensemble multi-cam sitcom that follows a young comedian (Mulaney) who writes for a game show. Seaton Smith is playing a comedian named Motif whom the central character often comes to for advice. Louis C.K. Tried to Get Pacino, Scorsese, and Woody Allen to Guest on 'Louie'

The NY Times has a Q&A out with Louis C.K. today in advance of his new HBO special Oh My God's debut next Saturday. In it, C.K. reveals that he pursued a lot of big names to play the character of Jack Dall, the guy who trained him for his Letterman tryout last season, before he thought to cast David Lynch, who nailed the part. Amy Sedaris Joins Adult Swim's 'The Heart, She Holler' for Season Two

Amy Sedaris is returning to TV with her first regular TV gig since her cult hit series Strangers with Candy went off the air in 2000. Adult Swim just announced today that Sedaris has been added to the cast of its nightmarish live-action 11-minute comedy series, The Heart, She Holler, which debuted as a six-part miniseries in November of 2011 but has been renewed for a second season. John Goodman Will Star in Amazon's Comedy Pilot 'Alpha House'

Amazon is getting ready to launch a batch of original comedy shows, and John Goodman has been added the pilot for a new show called Alpha House, Deadline reports. Alpha House, created by Doonesbury and Tanner '88's Garry Trudeaufollows a group of four senators living in a rented house together in Washington DC, and it's just one of six Amazon comedy pilots in development right now. Chris Rock Joins the Cast of BET's 'Real Husbands of Hollywood'

Chris Rock is coming back to TV for his first regular on-camera series role in over a decade. HipHollywood reports that Rock has joined the cast of the BET comedy The Real Husbands of Hollywood for its second season. Comedy hero Chris Elliott's next movie is a pretty surprising one: a Hugh Grant rom-com. THR reports that Elliott has joined the cast of an untitled independent romantic comedy starring Grant and Marisa Tomei. J.K. Simmons, Bella Heathcote, and Allison Janney also play supporting roles in the movie, which follows an Academy Award-winning screenwriter (Grant) who hits hard times and has to teach screenwriting at a university, where he falls for a single mom student (Tomei). Keegan-Michael Key Joins Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair's USA Pilot

Keegan-Michael Key, one of the stars of Comedy Central's Key & Peele, has joined the cast of a new USA Network pilot from Best Friends Forever stars/creators Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair. Jennifer Aniston Joins Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman in Peter Bogdanovich's New Movie

Jennifer Aniston has joined the cast of a new comedy called She's Funny That Way from veteran director Peter Bogdanovich, Variety reports. This will be Bogdanovich's first film since 2001's The Cat's Meow. The story follows a Broadway producer (Owen Wilson) trying to turn a former prostitute into an actress. Aniston plays a therapist whose mother is in rehab for alcohol. The cast also includes Jason Schwartzman, Eugene Levy, Kathryn Hahn, Brie Larson, and Cybill Shepherd.
