'Portlandia', 'Community' and More Guest Star Business

- Chloe Sevigny is going stop by Portlandia to play Fred and Carrie's new roommate Alexandra. If you made a list of perfect Portlandia guest stars, Chlo-Sev had to be in the top seven, if not the top four.

- Little Britain's Matt Lucas (aka the bald fellow in Bridesmaids) will be coming to Community to play Toby, a nerdish fellow who Abed meets at an Inspector Spacetime convention. The fast friends become faster friends when they learn they had previously "met" online. Sounds like a nice enough character, which makes me believe he will ultimately turn into a villain. A British villain. I smell a [...]

Roy's Coming Back to 'The Office', Parker Posey Penis Party Girl, and a Predictable 'Scary Movie' Casting

- Do call it a comeback, he hasn't be here for years. The former almost Mr. Pam Beesly, Roy, is coming back to The Office's office. David Denman's return won't be permanent but at least it might cause some conflict. Unless this casting just means the office finds a copy of Threat Level Midnight 2 (aka Threat Level Noon).

- Parker Posey is replacing the previously cast Leslie Mann as the "shot girl" at Schmidt's penis party.  She might also make an appearance as the "Ghost of Bangs Future," a specter who teaches Zooey's Jess about the dangers of living a quirky life.

-  Lindsay Lohan [...]

Kal Penn Joins 'Ex-Men'

Former Obama advisor Kal Penn has been cast opposite Chris Smith in CBS's single-cam pilot Ex-Men. Penn will play Gil, a younger fellow who was caught having the "world's worst affair" and is living in the old dude complex until his wife takes him back. I like that in that framing, it is her fault that she won’t take him back, even though he had the "world's worst affair," which I can only imagine means something like he had a threesome with his wife's sister and clone, on her birthday, on top of her dog's eventually dead body and her father's grave. Penn previously was seen on CBS [...]

The 'Wreck-It Ralph' Cast Continues to be Fun

We already knew that John C. Reilly, Jack McBrayer, Sarah Silverman, and Jane Lynch were lending their voices to Disney's video games movie Wreck-it Ralph but now more names are coming out. Mindy Kaling will be voicing Taffyta Muttonfudge (haha, of course), Sarah Silverman's nemsis in Sugar Rush, the racing game they're in. Steve the Pirate aka Alan Tudyk will play King Candy, one of the rulers in Sugar Rush. Horatio Sanz and Adam Corolla (whose character probably thinks both Sarah and Mindy's characters are bad drivers) will play Sugar Rush security guards. Also, Rachel Harris, Ed O'Neil, and Dennis Haysbert will be there to add their [...]

Luka Jones Joining the Cast of 'Up All Night'

Big lug Luka Jones is joining the cast of Up All Night as a series regular. He will be playing Reagan's brother who's a contractor and a recently divorced single dad. This is big news for Luka, who was last (and first) seen being great and totally killing it as Joe on Best Friends Forever. (Also, how many actors can claim to have a sweet 'stache in their headshot?) Maybe, next Lennon Parham will be cast to play Chris's younger sister and Jessica St. Clair will be cast to play Reagan's new assistant and then they'll have a spin-off entitled Best Friends Forever and Ever and it will [...]

How Melissa Leo Met Louis

"What happened was, I was at the Emmys with my son, and he said, 'Oh, there’s Louis C.K. I want to meet him!' I don’t think my boy’s ever said that. He’s 25 years old and has been around all sorts of people! So I went over and introduced myself to Louis C.K., and then I got more aware of who he was and what he had done. He offered me this role, and I asked to see some of his shows. So, yeah, I got what he was doing, and if he thought I could be her and do that with him — yeah, I’m willing to give it [...]

Chris Pratt to Play a Lawyer?

Human golden retriever Chris Pratt is in talks to star opposite Vince Vaughn in the remake of the French-Canadian comedy Starbuck. Starbuck is about Vaughn's character learning he's fathered 533 children via sperm donation. Pratt would play Vaughn's lawyer and the father of a whole mess of kids too. Andy as a lawyer!? Crazy. Before this, Pratt is supposed to play one of the marines who killed Osama Bin Laden; though, that sounds more like a job for Bert Macklin.

Some Guest-Star News

- Reno 911! Star Niecy Nash will appear in an early episode of The New Girl next season as woman who steals Jess's likely ribbon and hearts covered purse. To take the shenanigan level up another notch, this twee purse thief will be a prostitute. Basically, it will be Jess's chance to meet her polar opposite. Also, Leslie Mann will appear as a shot girl in the episode where the gang celebrates the removal of Schmidt's penis cast. Lastly, the perpetually getting sitcom work David Walton will be reoccurring as Jess's definitely tall, probably boneheaded love interest.

- Michael Trucco will return next season to How I Met Your [...]

'The Mindy Project' Fills Out Its Doctors Office

"Ned! Ryerson!" It might not be what you'll be saying but it'll definitely be what you're thinking while watching The Mindy Project this fall because Stephen Tobolowsky has been cast to play a legendary OB/GYN and head of Schulman and Associates, the practice where Mindy works. Joining him is Ike Barinholz, who is also a writer on the show, who will playing an ex-con male nurse and Amanda Setton who will be playing the office's steadfast office manager. The first clips of The Mindy Project made it seem a bit straightforward, so it's nice to see that there is silliness ahead. Better get some life insurance.

Chris Pratt and Will Arnett to Become Legos. FINALLY!

Remember when Will Arnett played the MRI giver dude on Parks & Recreation and you thought, "He and Andy should totally voice characters in a Lego movie together?" No? Just me? Well, it's happening!  Chris Pratt is set to voice the lead, Dan Lego (ok, that probably won't be the characters name), in Lego: The Piece of Resistance. (Whoever thought of that name should be promoted to Head of Movies.) Arnett will provide the voice to Lego Batman, which is a real part in this movie and the part he was born to play. This ridiculous half live-action and half Lego-based animated film will be released on February [...]

John Goodman in Talks to Play 'Hangover III's' Villian

The lovely, awesome John Goodman is being eyed to play the bad guy in the final Hangover movie. (More like John not so Goodman. Get it? Because he won't be G– I'll just stop now.) Goodman is a natural bad guy, as was the case in this past season of Community, because of how physically imposing he is and the undeniable gravitas of his voice. If Goodman can't do it, Sean Penn and Robert Downey Jr. are director Todd Phillips' back-up choices. And this marks the first time where John Goodman, Sean Penn, and Robert Downey Jr. were fighting for the same role. Well, other than when they all [...]

People Were Cast in Movie and Television Roles

- Josh Gad will play an anti-social engineer named Headphones (yes, Headphones), in the middle-aged internship comedy, The Internship, which co-stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

- Nelson Franklin, whose played a tall nerd in a bunch of stuff, most prominently Fox's failed Traffic Lights, is going to play Cece's new boyfriend on The New Girl who is partially deaf but entirely a tall nerd. Anna Maria Horsford, who "famously" played the security guard on The Wayans Brothers, is also joining The New Girl as Winston's tough mom.

- Matt Walsh is going to play a tornado chaser in Steve Quale's still untitled tornado chasing film.

- [...]

Oh Wait, Mindy Kaling Will Be Back on 'The Office'

Vulture is reporting that Mindy Kaling has agreed to a deal with NBC to come back for two episodes of The Office next season. It might be so she can be written off the show or to give her enough airtime to sustain her character until the show's conclusion. Maybe Kelly will announce that she went to medical school and is going to be the subject of a new doctor documentary that is apparently shot not in a documentary-style but like a standard single-camera sitcom. In addition, FOX revealed today that The Mindy Project's pilot along with Ben And Kate's will debut online and on VOD from Aug. 27 to Sept. 9, [...]

Tony Hale's Joining the Cast of Paul Feig's Melissa McCarthy-Sandra Bullock Cop Film

Your future favorite movie of a summer just keeps on getting better. Tony Hale has signed on to Paul Feig's still untitled buddy cop film written by Parks & Recreation's Kate Dippold and starring Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock. McCarthy will be arresting Hale for soliciting a prostitute, which sounds like a hilarious scene in which McCarthy dresses like a streetwalker. Soliciting a prostitute is technically illegal but soliciting a prostitute with a hook for a hand should be super illegal.
