With 'Happy Endings' Canceled, Damon Wayans Jr. May Come Back to 'New Girl'

While negotiations are still ongoing to bring Happy Endings to USA following ABC's decision to cancel the sitcom, it looks like star Damon Wayans Jr. is wanted back at New Girl. For the uninformed, in between Happy Endings' first and second seasons when a renewal for the show seemed uncertain, Wayans took a role on Fox's New Girl. He appeared in the pilot as a roommate named Coach but had to leave the show after Happy Endings got picked up for Season 2 and Lamorne Morris’s Winston took his place. With Happy Endings' future uncertain once again, TV Line's Michael Ausiello reports that if the show doesn't move to [...]

'Cougar Town' Now Located in TBS City

As we speculated earlier, Cougar Town is officially moving from ABC to TBS for 2013. The deal is for one 15-episode season, with the possibility of a second. This is the second time, after Scrubs, one of Bill Lawrence's shows has switched networks, which is particularly impressive, considering it almost never happens. I hope TBS is ready for all the campaigns that will come their way, trying to get them to save every failing cult sitcom.

USA Is in Talks to Pick Up 'Happy Endings' But a Deal Is Unlikely

ABC canceled its critically-acclaimed but underwatched comedy Happy Endings last week, and there's been speculation that the USA network would pick up the show just like how TBS saved Cougar Town from the clutches of cancelation last year. USA is officially in negotiations with Happy Endings' studio Sony TV to pick up the show, Variety reports, but Deadline reports that, "At this point … a pickup appears unlikely but the network is carefully exploring the opportunity to migrate a show with some success on broadcast TV and a dedicated fan base." Happy Endings is the only recently-canceled network sitcom that fits that description, unless Go On has [...]

TBS Might Become 'Cougar Town's' New Hometown

These were gloomy days over in Cougar Town but things might be turning around. Cancellation wasn't certain but it was likely, as their numbers are around an NBC-esque 1.3 18-49 rating and the fact alone that ABC shortened its episode order this year, relegating it to a midseason replacement. It's being reported that TBS, home of the cable powerhouse known as old episodes of Big Bang Theory, are in talks to pick it up. The deal would be for two 15-episode seasons, which would put Cougar Town right in line for syndication. This is great news for an oft-overlooked show and television in general. We talk a [...]

USA May Save 'Happy Endings' If ABC Doesn't

Critically-acclaimed sitcom Happy Endings has been moved around ABC's schedule like crazy this season after being given a late premiere and a two-month midseason hiatus by the network, but it looks like the show may have a new home once ABC inevitably cancels it. Deadline reports that Sony TV, the studio behind Happy Endings, has reached out to the USA Network and NBC about picking up the show if ABC axes it. USA, which is looking to expand into comedy in 2013, has already had discussions with Sony about picking up the show. Sony TV is known for fighting to keep its shows alive, and [...]

Two High-Ranking 'Community' Producers Leave for Fox

Vulture is reporting Community Executive Producers Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan have signed a big deal to create television for 20th Century Fox. Goldman and Donovan have been Dan Harmon's number twos since the premiere (and the namesakes for Fat Neil and Garrett, respectively) so the loss is significant. This doesn't reveal anything about Community's renewal future but let's all just agree to pretend that it's definitely great news, for some reason. It does reveal that Fox is making a hard push towards live action sitcoms, something that before New Girl hadn't been their strong suit for a while. First The Office's Mindy Kaling then 30 Rock's [...]
