Christopher Abbott Leaves 'Girls' After Conflict with Lena Dunham

Christopher Abbott, who plays Marnie's on-again, off-again boyfriend Charlie on HBO's Girls, has left the series following creative differences with Lena Dunham, Page Six reports. Abbott has been a frequent recurring guest on the show since Season 1, but his role was looking as if it would be beefed up in the upcoming third season before this happened. Page Six's anonymous source told them, "They've just started work on Season 3, and Chris is at odds with Lena. He didn't like the direction things are going in, which seems a bit odd since the show put him on the map." There's no word on how much of Season [...]

Angus T. Jones Likely to Leave 'Two and a Half Men' After This Season

Two and a Half Men's half-man Angus T. Jones made headlines earlier this week when he called the show "filth" and encouraged people to stop watching it in a testimonial video for a Christian cult, fueling speculation that he'd be leaving the long-running series soon. HuffPo now reports that Jones will probably be departing after the current season, the show's tenth, in which he won't be appearing in every single episode anyways. CBS has yet to renew Two and a Half Men for an eleventh season, but considering how long it's been running and that Angus T. Jonesgate is coming in the wake of ex-star Charlie Sheen's [...]

Kristen Wiig Talks Leaving 'SNL'

Kristen Wiig is the cover story of the upcoming issue of Marie Claire. The profile captures Kristen right after her last episode of SNL. She explains: "It was very emotional. I just wanted to get through it without breaking down in every sketch. Because nothing says comedy like breaking down.” Speaking of breaking down, she talks about that devastating last sketch:

"You have all this stuff going on in your head, like, 'I can't believe seven years has gone by, and I'm going to miss all these people.' And I'm like, 'Oh, by the way, Mick Jagger is to my right, and I just danced a waltz with him.'"

Christina Applegate Leaves 'Up All Night'; Is the Show as Good as Canceled?

Deadline reports that Christina Applegate, the star of NBC's troubled comedy Up All Night, has left the show. Applegate gave a statement saying, "It’s been a great experience working on Up All Night, but the show has taken a different creative direction and I decided it was best for me to move on to other endeavors." The new creative direction Applegate is referring to is a decision by NBC back in October to shut down production for five months in order to retool Up All Night as a multi-camera sitcom with a studio audience. Following the news, the show got a new showrunner, Linda Wallem, in [...]

Wyatt Cenac Is Filing His Last 'Daily Show' Report Next Month

Longtime Daily Show correspondent Wyatt Cenac will be leaving the series at the end of the year, Vulture reports. Cenac, who joined the show as both a correspondent and writer in 2008, will make his last appearance on December 13th, The Daily Show's last new episode of 2012. No word yet on what Wyatt Cenac's post-Daily Show plans are, but the guy's got a lot to keep him busy. Cenac was developing his own Comedy Central series this past year, an 80s-style public affairs show he created and hosted, but the network passed on the project. Since then, he's been working on his stand-up career, appeared in Mike [...]

Is Jason Sudeikis Winking at His Soon to Be Announced 'SNL' Departure?

The Daily News is reporting that in the latest issue of Men's Journal Jason Sudeikis has some interesting remarks about SNL: “I’ve left places before. This is very, very different.” He adds, "Goodbyes are tough." That seems to suggest that he is at least thinking seriously about leaving. However, if he was going to leave, why wouldn't he have announced it already like Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg? Maybe he's waiting for the publicity tour for The Campaign, so he has something to talk about on late night talkshows, just like Andy did for the That's My Boy tour. Either way, he's sure isn't giving too much away, like [...]

Wyatt Cenac Files His Last 'Daily Show' Report

The Daily Show and The Colbert Report each aired their final episodes of the year last night, and The Daily Show said goodbye to one of its own, correspondent Wyatt Cenac. This is Cenac's final report, in which he travels to Puerto Rico to interview the country's biggest foam journalist. Cenac joined The Daily Show as both a correspondent and writer in 2008, and he will be greatly missed. We here at Splitsider look forward to seeing what his next project is, especially now that he's been turned into a puppet.

Chevy Chase Leaves 'Community' in a Classy Chevy Chase Fashion

Chevy Chase made an oddly-timed exit from NBC's Community on Thanksgiving Eve Wednesday, effective immediately. Deadline reports that Chase's departure was a mutual one with producers, which is no surprise considering how rocky his relationship with the show has been for the past four seasons. Chase had a well-documented feud with Community creator Dan Harmon before Harmon was let go from the show in May after publicly leaking some profanity-filled voicemails from Chase. Chase also recently made headlines after using the N-word on set while complaining about the direction of his racist character and bad-mouthed Community to the press, despite it being the best thing to happen [...]
