'Louie,' 'Key & Peele,' 'Girls' and 'Parks and Rec' Amongst this Year's WGA Awards Nominees

The Writers Guild of America announced its TV nominations yesterday, and unlike a lot of awards shows (say, the Emmys), the WGA actually recognized most of the great comedies on TV. The 2013 WGA Awards are set to go down on February 17th with simultaneous ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles. This year, new and newish series like GirlsPortlandia, Key & Peele, Girls, and Veep all scored their first WGA nominations, while old favorites fared well too. Comedy-wise, Modern Family led the pack with 4 nominations, followed by The Simpsons (3), Parks and Recreation (2), 30 Rock (2), and Girls (2).

Marcus Monroe "The Rock Star of Jugglers" Wins the 2012 Andy Kaufman Award

The 8th Annual Andy Kaufman Award Show was held last night at Gotham Comedy Club in New York City, and the winner of the award this year was Marcus Monroe, a juggler/comedian who bills himself as "the rock star of jugglers." Past recipients of the Kaufman Award include Kristen Schaal, Reggie Watts, and Brent Weinbach, who have all seen their careers skyrocket subsequently, so it's possible the same thing will happen for Monroe. Here's the highlight reel of his performance last night. Check him out impersonating Reggie Watts (before Reggie Watts interrupts him) at Bonnaroo this summer after the jump.

Celebrities Honor (and Joke About) Ben Stiller at a Big Fancy Event

The American Cinematheque gave its annual career achievement award to actor/writer/director/producer Ben Stiller last week, and a ton of his big shot celebrities pals turned out to pay tribute to him, and more importantly, to make jokes at his expense. Here are some of the evening's best jokes, quips, bits, and burns, as recorded by The Hollywood Reporter:

"Ben has one of the most marvelous, vibrant and exciting penises I've ever seen. I used to do a lot of cocaine in the '80s, so believe me, I've seen a lotta penises. Ben's is a real charmer … think Paul Newman around the time of The Hustler … fun, almost cute and cuddly. … [...]

ABC News Names Amy Poehler Its Person of the Week

ABC News has declared comedy extraordinaire Amy Poehler its "Person of the Week" for her website Smart Girls at the Party and YouTube advice series for young girls. Here's a clip from the ABC broadcast, featuring an interview with Poehler and also featuring newsman David Wright calling a comedy sketch a "skit," which is always gross and a term that non-comedy people should have learned by now not to use outside of campfires.

Seth MacFarlane and the 'Parks and Rec' Cast Make GQ's "Men of the Year" List

GQ released the list for its upcoming "Men of the Year" issue today, which includes Seth MacFarlane, the male cast of New Girl, the male and female cast of Parks and Recreation, Christopher Walken, and Girls' Adam Driver. Seth Meyers penned a nice little ode to Seth MacFarlane, GQ's "Funnyman of the Year 2012," saying, amongst other things, "At least ten times a year, I tell someone I'm Seth Meyers and they say, "Oh, my God! I love Family Guy!"
