In case you missed it, John Oliver did an excellent three-part report on gun control in Australia on The Daily Show that aired over the last couple weeks. Part 3, which aired Thursday, is embedded above and 1 and 2 below. It's a pretty strong argument for stricter gun control in the US, despite containing a man in a kangaroo suit.

It's pretty fascinating to watch the NRA continue to both frustrate Stewart and to pretty much write his show for him.

Journalist Bob Woodward's journalistic tactics were called into question a couple weeks ago over a dispute with the White House, and Tanner Colby has taken this as an opportunity to analyze Woodward's reviled 1984 John Belushi biography Wired in a new piece for Slate. Wired being criticized for its inaccuracy is nothing new. The book has long been thought of as inaccurate and sensationalist, but the Slate piece is the most damning and clear evidence of this yet. The Chicago Tribune ran an odd piece last week in which writers Nina Metz and Chris Borrelli explain their support for hecklers, explaining that they make stand-up shows more exciting and demonstrate how strong the comedian is by how they deal with having drunk people yell stuff at them. The whole thing is pretty insulting to comedians and the art form of comedy as a whole, and writer/comedian Steve Heisler has fired back with an excellent blog post that completely dismantles the Tribune writers' already-shoddy argument.
