Ben Schwartz: Animated Boy Ninja

But seriously, what the juice? This is Ben Schwartz in the part he was born to play: an excited teenager. Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja debuts next month on Disney XD, Disney's animated action-orientated kids network that you probably didn't know existed. The show is about Schwartz's character finding an 800-year-old ninja guide called "NinjaNomicon" (I'm not making this stuff up) and using it to fight bad guys and get through high school. The show also features Jim Rash, Tim Curry, Megan Mullally, and John Oliver, so let's all start making babies fast so we don't look weird watching it. Speaking of weird, watch the clip below that explains [...]

Charlyne Yi and Fred Armisen Follow Some Sort of Time Compass To Yo Gabba Gabba Land

I hope they got to keep those outfits. What am I saying? Charlyne probably came with that outfit. Charlyne Yi and Fred Armisen guest on Yo Gabba Gabba in an upcoming episode, stopping by as Edith and Larry, two new friends who happen to be, I don't know, some kind of interstellar time elves? The size of Charlyne's hat makes me think she's Fred's commanding officer. I, for one, can't wait for this show raise my kids for me.

Let Ty Burrell Explain to You What a Hexagon Is

Ty Burrell has quickly become on of my favorite comedic actors out there, and this great clip from his appearance on Sesame Street only makes my love for him grow stronger.

Pixar Plans a 'Finding Nemo' Sequel/Your Life Through 2016

Pixar announced all the movies they have planned for the next few years. Let's run 'em down:

2013: Monsters University – The prequel to Monsters, Inc. There's already a trailer.

2014: The Good Dinosaur – It's not about a dinosaur lawyer whose husband has a sex scandal, probably. It will look at a world where dinosaurs still rule the land.

2015: The Untitled Pixar Movie about The Día de los Muertos – No word on plot but it's probably about a Hispanic character's search for a title for the movie.

2015: The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind – This will explore the goings-on [...]

New Shel Silverstein Book Drops In September: Save A Few Copies For The Kids

Do your best to not knock any tiny children aside as you sprint through Barnes & Noble this September to get the new Shel Silverstein book Everything On It. Silverstein, the reason any of us have a sense of wonder or imagination, passed away in 1999, but left behind a host of never-before-seen poems and illustrations which will be included in the new collection. Prior to his death, Shel's most recent works had been Falling Up (1996) and Draw A Skinny Elephant (1998); Runny Babbit, a book published posthumously, came out in 2005. HarperCollins Children's Book released the photo of the book's cover today, which as you can [...]

Jason Bateman Keeps Covered Up on Sesame Street

Jason Bateman wisely kept his cleavage covered up when he joined Elmo on Sesame Street. Although really, a bit of controversy probably could have landed him on SNL, which is more of his key demographic than Sesame Street.

Grinning From Eyeball to Ear: The Psychic Timebomb of Steampipe Alley

The "classic" kids show of the days of early television have a curious amount of nostalgic pull, considering they did not flourish for long. I blame Baby Boomers, who consider all of their cultural touchstones vastly superior to what followed. Whatever the reason, the children's programming of the 1950s — Howdy Doody, Bozo the Clown, Captain Video, and the like — is still what many people think of when they think "kids show." A puppeteered or costumed ringleader, a series of corny recurring characters, a few cartoons, and a studio audience of cheering preteens. Think Krusty the Klown without the Percodan-addicted host.

In the late 1980s, decades after most [...]

Ricky Gervais and Elmo Make a Great Comedy Duo

Sesame Street it really pumping out the viral videos lately, and they're actually pretty awesome. The latest features Ricky Gervais trying to help Elmo fall asleep in the most unhelpful way possible. The best part about these celebrity cameo Sesame Street videos is how the guests get to be themselves and do their own style of humor while fitting into the show's world.
