'The To Do List' Coming to Theaters Valentine's Day 2013

Maggie Carey's 90s-set teen sex comedy, The To Do List, has been set to be released on February 14, 2013. Filmed all the way back in the summer of 2011, it's been a long time coming. As the preview above explains, it's about Aubrey Plaza's character making a list of sex stuff to do before she goes to college. It's like The Bucket List, if that bucket was filled with lube.

Colbert, C.K., Wiig, and Handler Deemed Time 100 Worthy

The Time 100 came out and it's hilarious. More specifically, it has hilarious people on it and hilarious people writing about them. Judd Apatow writes about Kristen Wiig, Joan Rivers writes about Louis C.K., and Kathy Griffin writes about Chelsea Handler. The best is how Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau, writing about Stephen Colbert, captures just how lucky we are to be able to watch him bring life into that character every night. He writes:

"I'd like to add here that Stephen and I are old friends, but I can't. I barely know the man. But like millions of others, I revere him as the class clown I never knew [...]

Quite Possibly the Definitive List of Great Larry Sanders Show Moments

The next best thing to leaving work early, scurrying home, getting under all your blankets and your roommates' blankets, and watching every episode of The Larry Sanders Show? Probably just sneakily watching it at work. But the next best thing after that would be perusing this list of the show's 36 best moments. No flipping.

Forbes List of Top-Earning Comedians Makes Me Question Liking Comedians

Forbes, a magazine which I'm pretty sure only produces lists of various types of rich people and expensive things at this point, just released it's list of top-earning comedians for the year. Now, they say it's top-earning comedians, at the top of which would be people like Jerry Seinfeld and Conan O'Brian. But instead, this is a list of top-earning working stand-ups who earn their money from touring. And man, guys, it's kind of ugly.

'Variety' Tells Us about Their 10 Comics to Watch

Two weeks ago, we showed you the cover of Variety's "10 Comics To Watch" issue. The issue hits newsstands this week, so finally we can get an insight onto why Jillian Bell, Kurt Braunohler, Rob Delaney, Lil Rel Howery, Jake & Amir, Moshe Kasher, Joe Mande, Rory Scovel, and Jessica Williams are so damn watchable. Read about all of these now watched comedians here.

Take a Time Out and Read Time Out's List of the "50 Funniest New Yorkers"

This week, Time Out New York not only listed the "50 Funniest New Yorkers," they ranked them. Now we know for certain that John Hodgman (#35) is slightly funnier than John Mulaney (#36), and both are not nearly as funny as awesome video maker Reggie Watts (#9). The list includes comedians, writers (#31 David Rakoff), filmmakers (#8 The Coen Brothers), and whatever Howard Stern is considered (He came in at #30, one spot worse than Hannibal Buress). Congrats to Edith Zimmerman, editor of our sister site The Hairpin, for beating Michael Showalter and coming in at #49.

There's a lot you can say about how [...]

Things Louis C.K. Would Have to Do For Me to Like Him More

Louis C.K. was on Leno last night talking about a cab ride to the airport and a camping trip with his kids. I think we are all getting a little tired of talking about how much we love Louis C.K., so here is a partial list of things he would have to do for me to like him more than I already do:

- cure cancer

- invent a breed of puppy that looks like a beagle-pug mix but doesn't need to be walked or fed and is happiest in a tiny cramped living space

- ask me out, but on all our dates we just eat pudding [...]

Leaked 'Variety' Cover Reveals the 10 Comics to Watch for 2012

Sarah Colonna tweeted this picture that reveals this year's Variety "10 Comics to Watch", probably because she was super excited to be featured. Also probably excited are: Jillian Bell, Kurt Braunohler, Rob Delaney, Lil Rel Howery, Jake & Amir, Moshe Kasher, Joe Mande, Rory Scovel, and Jessica Williams. Considering its track record, this is a big break for these young comedians. Last year's list included Rebel Wilson, Amy Schumer, Harris Wittels, Chris D'Elia, and Pete Holmes and they're doing all right. The issue doesn't officially get released until 7/25, so we won't know why each was picked until then. But it's probably because they're all funny and cool and [...]

Things Everyone Is Tired of Watching on TV

Here's a fun list of TV tropes and jokes that are overused to the point of exhaustion. Seriously, TV way overuses these cheeseballs, it's really annoying, and…TV's standing right behind me, isn't it?

ABC's Best in Film and the Trouble with "Authoritative" Lists

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the greatest comedy film of all-time is Dr. Strangelove, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. According to Bravo, it’s Animal House. According to IGN, it’s Ghostbusters. According to AFI, it’s Some Like It Hot. According to us, the people, it’s none of those.

Last night, ABC aired Best in Film: The Greatest Movies of Our Time, a Tom Bergeron and Cynthia McFadden-hosted special that named the greatest thriller, romance, etc. movies of all-time (excuse me, OUR time). According to ABC’s website, “In an unprecedented collaboration between ABC News and People Magazine…we gave movie fans the opportunity to vote online [...]
