Conan Celebrates His 50th Birthday with a Mariachi Band

Conan O'Brien's 50th birthday was yesterday, and in honor of the occasion, guest Eva Mendes brought him a mariachi band. Luckily, he didn't already have one because that would have been awkward.

Finally, Stephen Colbert Gets a Wax Museum Statue

Respected journalist Stephen Colbert is finally being given the wax museum treatment, one of the big signs that you've "made it" in the entertainment industry. Colbert's wax double was unveiled at Madame Tussauds in Washington, D.C. Friday, along with a full-sized replica of the Colbert Report set. Stephen Colbert, the real one made of flesh and bone, not the wax one, was present for the unveiling of his wax doppelganger, petting and licking the statue like the class act he is while rattling off jokes. To make room for the Colbert event, the Dan Rather wax dummy was temporarily moved into the gift shop, the latest evidence that [...]

Ranking the Anniversary Episodes of The Simpsons

This Sunday on Fox, The Simpsons will air its 500TH EPISODE. To put that number in perspective, that’s nearly 100 more than the combined episode totals of Family Guy and South Park. Even King of the Hill, which seemingly ran for forever, only lasted 259 episodes, half of The Simpsons’ epic run.

Whether the show should be off the air is beside the point (though the plot description of Sunday’s episode is, “the Simpsons discover that everyone in town has grown tired of them and are secretly plotting to have them thrown out of Springfield forever,” so they’re commenting on that in a meta way) – I’m instead focusing [...]

Julie Klausner Rings in 100 Episodes of 'How Was Your Week'

Maximum Fun mastermind Jesse Thorn also dropped by to serve as Julie Klausner's Mike Birbiglia and interview her about her experiences hosting the show. It's a milestone for one of the funniest, best podcasts going.

‘Ted’ Is the #1 Original R-Rated Comedy Ever; Seth MacFarlane Finally Finds Success

Seth MacFarlane has been waiting around for his big break for a while now. Sure, he has three hit TV shows, is hosting the Oscars, and made the highest-grossing comedy movie of the year, but no one’s really a success in this industry until they’ve written and directed the #1 original R-rated comedy of all-time, worldwide. This past weekend, MacFarlane’s first movie Ted reached an estimated $469 million worldwide gross, surpassing The Hangover, which had $467.5 million, to become the top original R-rated comedy ever. With things finally going Seth MacFarlane’s way, he should have an easier time landing his second movie and getting his agent to return his calls.

Will Ferell Celebrates Funny or Die's 5 Millionth Twitter Follower

Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Chris Henchy's web comedy behemoth Funny or Die reached five million Twitter followers this week, and to commemorate the occasion, Will Ferrell released this special video. The video was written and directed by Nick Wiger, who made "Gungan Style (Gangnam Style Parody)" last year, possibly the greatest Funny or Die video ever. Five million Twitter followers is pretty impressive, making Funny or Die the 114th most-followed account on Twitter. It's nice of Will Ferrell to take some time out of his busy schedule to thank fans for their support, even if he just now learned that tweets aren't sent out through the [...]

Adam Scott Promises 'The Greatest Event in Television History' Will Be Very Important

Adam Scott's new TV special The Greatest Event in Television History, which also features Jon Hamm, is airing tonight at midnight on Adult Swim, and Scott has taken to the airwaves to add even more hype to a program that already has the most self-aggrandizing name in television history. It's a tall order comparing the show to The Beatles on Ed Sullivan, Dallas' "Who Shot JR?", and um, the California Raisins, but one thing's for sure: Adam Scott and Jon Hamm are men of integrity and wouldn't lead us astray.
